BAND PROFILE

Mayfly Eternal is an alternative-acoustic rock band composed of  Mae Asmiralde on vocals, Lem Regis on acoustic guitar, and Arvee Fajardo on bass guitar.  Their technical proficiency with their instruments allowed them to delve into varying genres – pop rock, alternative rock and pop jazz among others.  Originally setup for acoustic performance, the band was formed August of 2005 to join an acoustic rock competition carrying the name AfterEight. With only two days of practice, they still emerged as winners. Enthralled by each other’s flair in music, the band decided to stick together and create more songs which they regularly performed on gigs under the name Jack In The Box. Crowd favorites “Sulyap” and “Paraiso” was successfully aired on local television. Having amassed patrons, the band decided to join the mainstream to showcase their entrancing songs under the name MAYFLY ETERNAL.

What sets Mayfly Eternal apart from other bands is that they do not hesitate to experiment on fusing various influences which creates a distinctively fresh sound. Each member brings about a particular flavor that shapes the character of the band as a whole.  The collaboration of poetry and music allows them to communicate with the listeners - their music speaks of love, life and everything in between. They also express their political as well as philosophical views through some of their songs. The music they create gives a feeling of intensified emotion and absolute relief in the end.

WHY MAYFLY ETERNAL

The band is fascinated by the irony that though an adult mayfly can only live for a day, this insect group has been existing for 300 million years.  The band acknowledges the fact that life is short and yet they aim to leave a long-lasting legacy.

  • MEMBER PROFILE

On Vocals

Mae Anne Asmiralde, Mae

The source of the band’s energy level. Mae’s powerful voice defines the color of  the band’s music. Her discipline is one of her strongest points. She devotes time to practice the  songs. Having joined singing competitions, she has become a confident performer. Her own approach with the original songs satisfied the songwriters and the entire band. A rock enthusiast, she considers Evanescence, Incubus, Joss Stone and Silverchair as her influences.

On Bass

Rene Victor Fajardo, Arvee

Main lyricist and composer of the band, Arvee  wrote his first song at the age of 12 and honed his talent over the years. His first influence was his band mate Lem who taught him the basic principles of music and guitar playing. Music became his sole passion since, and songwriting had become his vocation. Having joined several bands and years of mastering his art made him credibly mature on the field. The prime mover of the band,  he sowed the ideals of  going out in the open and selling themselves to the listening public. Genres which influenced him are rock and alternative. He draws inspiration from icons such as Lenny Kravitz, Blessed Union of Souls, Smashing Pumpkins and Live. His compositions for the band are “Dasal”, "Paraanin Mo Ako", “Paraiso”, “Oxygen”, “Free”, and “Freak Out, Speak Out”.

On Acoustic

Robert Lemuel Regis, Lem

Main lyricist and composer of the band, Lem is undeniably a disciple of the arts. His life revolves on his two major passions: Philosophy and Music. A Philosophy instructor by day, his band mates are accustomed in calling him “Sir Lem”. His passion for Philosophy permitted him to blend language with melody which made him an exceptional songwriter. He plays several instruments with utmost excellence – the Acoustic Guitar, Keyboards and Piano among others. He took up formal lessons on jazz guitar, classical guitar and songwriting at prominent institutions. He is inspired by the musical prowess of Tuck Andres, Joe Pass, Mishka Adams and Cynthia Alexander. He composed “Sulyap”, “'Di Sinasadya”, “Coffee and Me”, “Moonshine” and “Bintana” for the band.
